Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Burlington, North Carolina
Job Details
- Location: Burlington, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend/holiday
- Unit: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (patient population primarily Medical-Surgical)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Floating: Must float to all campuses as needed for patient care
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Tele remote monitoring experience required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Certification)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification
- Pass/fail testing for EKG/Dysrhythmia and Medication competency or Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required
- EPIC test acknowledgement and experience with EPIC system
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs (except Behavioral Health or Case Managers)
- Other certifications that may be relevant depending on unit:
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma as applicable
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Fingerprinting required if applicable (Home Health and Long-Term Care only)
Additional Requirements
- Must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Must complete all compliance documentation by the deadline (12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date)
- Must complete and pass the EPIC test (2 attempts allowed, additional attempts may be granted at manager discretion)
- Must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
- Must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years required
This position offers a night shift travel nursing opportunity on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit with a reputable healthcare system in North Carolina. It requires strong clinical skills, flexibility, and compliance with rigorous credentialing and documentation standards. First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply.
