Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Unit Details
- Weekend Schedule: Every Other Weekend
- Call: None
- Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (First-time travelers accepted)
- Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays falling within assignment (up to 2 holidays)
- Orientation: Non-billable orientation hours based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Return to Office (RTO) Policy: Maximum 7 days allowed for return to office
- Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Local candidates accepted at same rate
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical Registered Nurse experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start; includes criminal, sex offender, education verification, and other checks
- Education Verification: Degree verification required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screen acceptable
- Immunizations & Health:
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months; negative chest x-ray if prior positive TB test
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) highly recommended but not required
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry and related units
- Color Blind Testing required
- References: Two clinical references required
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated within the last 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
Additional Notes
- Floating assignments may be required within the facility and scope of practice
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- Orientation hours and requirements vary based on contract length
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of Medical Surgical experience seeking a travel contract opportunity with weekend rotations and no call requirements.
