Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Job Description
Seeking an experienced Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer with a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience. The unit accepts first-time travelers but requires candidates to be experienced sonographers.
Key Responsibilities and Skills:
- Perform Transthoracic Echocardiogram (TTE) and Stress Echo studies.
- Work settings include Adult Acute Care, Adult Outpatient, Emergency Room (ER), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Adult Echo procedures including:
- 2-D and 3-D Echo
- Bubble Study
- Color Doppler
- Imaging with Contrast Agents
- Pharmacologic Stress Echo
- Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)
- Treadmill Stress Echo
- Perform calculations such as Simpson's Rule, Diastology, LV Strain/LV Volume, and Proximal Isovelocity Surface Area.
- Experience with equipment brands: GE, Hitachi, PACS, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite, Toshiba.
- Documentation system used: EPIC/Change Healthcare.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, with experience within the last year.
- Experience working in Acute Care and Outpatient settings.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification.
Experience Requirements
- Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years as a sonographer in echo/cardiac imaging.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers are accepted.
Work Environment
- Adult Acute Care, Outpatient, ER, ICU settings.
- May require floating to other nearby facilities within reasonable distance.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TB test or chest X-ray (annual update required)
- Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Fit mask testing (annual), required for travel candidates.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years.
Training and Competency
- Completion of required competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable.
- Completion of facility and system-specific training modules annually via LMS platform.
- Epic documentation training may be required depending on assignment location.
Additional Notes
- Travelers who have worked as permanent staff for the affiliated health system must have a minimum 3-month separation before qualifying for this travel contract.
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities.
- All certifications and licenses must be current and verifiable.
- Compliance with state-specific background and registry checks as applicable.
