Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float
Location: Augusta, Georgia

Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse to work as a PCU Float nurse caring for adult to geriatric patients. The role requires floating across multiple units including Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry (MS Tele), and Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Environment
- Units: Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, PCU
- Floating required to all MS, MS Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
- Patient Ratios:
- PCU: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- MS/MS Tele: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend (approx. 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification of nursing degree (can be pending with proof of processing)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if history of positive TB)
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
- Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- Work history verification of most recent employer
- Two clinical references required
Additional Information
- Floating is mandatory across MS, MS Telemetry, and PCU units
- Must comply fully with orientation and credentialing timelines to avoid assignment delays
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- No call requirements
- Expected to work major holidays as outlined above
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience who is flexible and comfortable floating across multiple adult care units including telemetry and progressive care.
