Location: Augusta, Georgia

Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical Float position caring for adult to geriatric patients. The role requires floating between Medical Surgical and Medical Surgical Telemetry units within the hospital, with possible float to a nearby sister campus.
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Work Setting & Unit Details
- Float required to all Medical Surgical (MS) and MS Telemetry units
- Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Unit systems include Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Weekend shifts: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
- Call: None
- Holidays: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2, expected to work both; if 3, expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
- Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days of assignment start
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Floating & Scheduling
- Floating required across MS and MS Tele units
- Possible float to a nearby sister campus (~3 miles away)
- Weekend shifts every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance with documentation and credentialing required to start on time
- Background check, education verification, and other standard healthcare compliance documents required prior to start
- Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly recommended)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
Additional Notes
- Candidates must pass a color blindness test and various competency exams (e.g., Dysrhythmia/EKG competency for Telemetry units)
- References and skills checklist required
- Floating and flexibility are essential for this role
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced medical surgical environment with floating responsibilities and Epic system proficiency.
