Registered Nurse - Mixed Unit High Acuity

Location: Titusville, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of experience for a high acuity mixed unit. This role requires floating within the scope of practice and participation in a rapid response team. The position includes weekend shifts every other week and a mandatory clinical orientation week with 5 shifts (36-40 hours).


Key Requirements

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience on Rapid Response team
  • Total joints experience
  • Floating required within scope
  • Orientation: Must be available for 5 mandatory shifts during clinical orientation week
  • Weekend shifts every other week
  • Candidates must live more than 30 miles from the facility (no locals)
  • Block scheduling not allowed
  • No Return to Office (RTO) during the first or last week of assignment

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except PACU, OR, Women’s Center, or Case Management)

Additional Preferred Certifications

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Preferred, not required
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Preferred, not required

Compliance and Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background check within 6 months, including social security trace, nationwide checks, education verification, and more
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
  • Education verification of RN degree (ASN, BSN, or MSN) required
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Drug screening (9 panel) within 3 months of start
  • COVID vaccination documentation required; religious or medical exemptions accepted with facility-specific forms
  • Flu vaccine or declination documentation recommended but not required for contract workers
  • Two professional references within two years required
  • Performance evaluation within the last year required if applicable
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and competency exams prior to start

Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital setting
  • Mixed unit with high acuity patients
  • Patient charting via Meditech system
  • Free parking available in unrestricted spaces

Important Notes

  • Three call-outs may result in termination
  • Shift change refusals with less than 48 hours’ notice may result in forfeiting guaranteed hours
  • Shift change refusals with one week or more notice may result in termination
  • Plan for at least 4 hours to complete required modules prior to start date
  • Holiday work requirements apply depending on number of holidays during assignment

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with high acuity care, floating, and rapid response duties in a dynamic hospital environment.
