Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location

Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery, high risk)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day/Night rotation (7a-7p and 7p-7a)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Yes, may float to postpartum unit within scope
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: No (within 100 mile radius)
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA/AAP only
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - as applicable
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - as applicable
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - required
- Other certifications as applicable per unit requirements
Clinical Skills / Special Requirements
- Experience with:
- Cesarean births
- Postpartum tubal ligations (PPTL)
- Dilation and curettage (D and C)
- Cerclage placement and removal
- Waterbirth
- Epic electronic health record experience required
Staffing and Facility Information
- Facility Type: Acute Care
- Teaching Hospital, Level 3 Trauma Center
- Total Staffed Beds: 317
- Charting System: Epic (Excellian)
Scheduling and Hours
- Guaranteed hours subject to client cancellation policy (up to 3 shifts may be canceled without penalty)
- No on-call hours counted toward guaranteed minimum hours
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check required within 1 year of start date (including MN statewide search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year
- Fingerprinting via Minnesota DHS Net Study required prior to start (no starts allowed with fingerprints pending unless approved "more time needed" letter)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing: 9 panel within 1 year (not required for client clearance)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific online preorientation modules within 72 hours of assignment start
- Passport-style photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
- Annual skills checklist required
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required
Scheduling Notes
- Parking available with validation for first day; subsequent parking fees apply depending on shift and location
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
