Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Winter Haven, Florida

Job Details

• Variable shift start times between 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM and end times between 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• Patient population: Surgical patients (outpatients/inpatients), including interventional radiology (IR) procedure patients
• Unit focus: Post-operative care for general surgical procedures and IR patients
• Special equipment used: Hoyer lift, bladder scanners, dopplers
• Call requirements: One night per week call and every third weekend call (days and nights)
• Scheduling: Traveler will be scheduled as needed (no blocked scheduling)
• Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
• Charting system: Cerner

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Florida
• Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Previous ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Call & Scheduling

• One night of week call and every third weekend call (days and nights)
• Traveler will be scheduled as needed; no blocked scheduling

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Driver’s License must be current and active throughout assignment
• Background check within 1 year of start, including 7 years of residence/work/school history
• Education verification required (transcript/diploma for international education)
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (or within 1 year if prior positive PPD)
• Annual TB questionnaire required (for travel agency candidates)
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with boosters if titers low/equivocal)
• Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination required for 2024-2025 season
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)
• Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required
• Two professional references from within the past 2 years
• Employment application and skills checklist required

Competency & Testing Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher) as applicable
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs on specified units (100% lethal arrhythmia score required)
• Color blind testing required prior to start
• Stroke education CEUs (8 total hours) including NIH Stroke Certification and mRS certification required for applicable units

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Professional photo for badge required prior to start
• Compliance with dress code and tobacco policy
• Completion of required online training modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)
• Fit mask acknowledgement required

• Locals are not accepted for this travel assignment

• This is a short-term acute care teaching hospital with 447 staffed beds
