Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Winter Haven, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Variable shift start times between 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM and end times between 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• Patient population: Surgical patients (outpatients/inpatients), including interventional radiology (IR) procedure patients
• Unit focus: Post-operative care for general surgical procedures and IR patients
• Equipment used: Hoyer lift, bladder scanners, dopplers
• Call requirements: One night per week call and every third weekend call (days and nights)
• Scheduling: Traveler will be scheduled as needed (no blocked scheduling)
• Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
• Charting system: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
• Minimum 1 year of recent Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Current Driver’s License/State ID
• Background checks including:

  • Standard 7-year history check
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM
  • HHS/OIG
• Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation (if education completed outside USA or Puerto Rico)
• Education verification (transcript or diploma)
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance (must be completed prior to start)
• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (annual TB not required)
• TB Questionnaire (annual, for Aya candidates only)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug testing: Standard 9-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination (deadline applies)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption
• Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required
• References: Two references from the past 2 years
• Employment application and skills checklist

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score required)
• Color blind testing (Relias online exam)
• Stroke education CEUs (8 total hours required, including NIH Stroke Certification and mRS certification)

• Candidates must complete required online training modules prior to start; these can take 4-8 hours
• Photo for badge required prior to start (clear, professional, no filters)
• Call schedule includes nights and weekends; scheduling is variable and as needed
