Registered Nurse - NICU

Location: Salina, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Job Description

• Position primarily in NICU with occasional work on Mother Baby unit.
• Patient population: Neonates 29-34 weeks gestation.
• Work settings: NICU Level II and Mother Baby unit.
• Ratio: 1:1 in NICU or up to 1:4 on Mother Baby unit.
• Attend high-risk deliveries including forceps/vacuum, C-sections, and surgical cases.
• Unit scrub provided.

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Kansas.
• Minimum 3 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with MEDITECH electronic medical records.
• Clinical skills including:

  • Endocrine/Metabolic care
  • Infectious disease management (Isolation precautions, neonatal sepsis, sepsis workup)
  • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome care
  • High flow nasal cannula and oxygen delivery systems

Licensure & Certifications

• Current Kansas RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required.
• STABLE certification preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Must comply with a 100-mile radius rule for mileage approval.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG.
• Proof of highest degree earned (transcript/diploma or education verification).
• Physical exam within 60 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or ARNP.
• N95 Fit Test within 12 months or completed onsite during orientation.
• Immunizations and titers required: Tdap (current within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Drug screening: 9 or 10 panel drug screen within required timeframe.
• Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season.
• COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted.
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions.
• Completion of facility-specific Healthstream modules (~8 hours) prior to start.

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in NICU with occasional Mother Baby unit duties. The role requires a minimum of 3 years RN experience, prior travel experience, and specific neonatal clinical skills. Licensure and certifications must be current and compliant with facility requirements. The contract is approximately 13 weeks with night shifts and every other weekend work.
