Job Opportunity: Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Unit: Stepdown (Med/Surg Telemetry)
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • License: Active Ohio RN license or active compact state RN license required
  • Certifications:
    • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Orientation

  • Orientation time is approximately 32-40 hours
  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam; passing scores required
  • Orientation hours are partially compensated

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge and certification in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background check including 7-year FCRA compliant search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be current
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually
  • Drug screening (standard 10-panel) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with annual updates)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start
  • Two professional references from employment within the last year required
  • Employment application including at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar area
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
  • Pass/fail testing on medication administration and ECG interpretation during orientation

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 6 months may need to retake orientation modules and competency exams
  • Facility requires legal name consistency across all documents
  • Candidates must comply with all health and safety protocols including immunizations and mask fitting
  • Orientation and onboarding processes are mandatory and must be completed before starting the assignment
