Job Description
Seeking a seasoned Infusion RN with flexibility to work in both outpatient and inpatient chemotherapy settings. The nurse may be required to float to other units for inpatient chemotherapy as needed.
Schedule:
- Base: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Occasional weekend shifts and rotating night shifts possible depending on inpatient chemotherapy demand
- No Return to Office (RTO) allowed during assignment
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week with possibility of overtime
Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Average Daily Census: 18 patients
Beds: 13
Medication System: Pyxis
Documentation System: Allscripts
Required Skills and Responsibilities
- Management of oncologic emergencies
- Symptom management
- Infusion experience required
- Previous inpatient chemotherapy experience is a plus
- Schedule flexibility is essential
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association provider card required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association provider card required
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred
- ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license appropriate for the specialty and location
- Minimum 2 years of infusion nursing experience
- Ability to float to inpatient chemotherapy units
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends
- Must have a current government-issued photo ID and US passport (Canadian passports not accepted)
- Must pass background checks including 7-year criminal history and other federal/state screenings
- Must complete facility-specific modules and competencies prior to or during assignment
Facility-Specific Requirements and Training
- Completion of nursing modules including:
- Pressure Injury Training
- NIH Stroke Scale Training
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Pyxis CareFusion system
- Onsite drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) testing during orientation (pen and paper format, must pass with 80% or higher)
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year prior to start
- Immunization or immunity documentation for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical exemption
- COVID-19 vaccine strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
Additional Notes
- Minimum contract length is 90 days with possibility of extension
- Candidates should plan to arrive at least one day prior to start due to travel time and time zone differences
- Candidates must complete all required certifications and trainings before or shortly after start date
- Facility requires annual renewal of certain certifications and background checks
