Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for an Operating Room travel contract position. The role involves working in a Pre-Screen Unit with clinical review and manager interview processes. The nurse will function independently across multiple surgical specialties and must be proficient with specific robotic surgical systems.


Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience.
  • At least 1 year Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred.
  • Previous travel nursing experience required.
  • Proficient with the DaVinci Xi robotic system; familiarity with DaVinci DV5 is a plus.
  • Able to function independently in the following specialties:
    • Robotics
    • Orthopedics
    • General Surgery
    • Gynecology (GYN)
    • Urology
    • Bariatrics
    • ENT
    • Plastics
    • Vascular
    • Thoracic (excluding cardiac and open heart)
    • Trauma
  • Prefer RNs who can scrub and circulate during procedures.

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Call: 2-3 calls within a 6-week period with a 30-minute response time.
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days.
  • Weekends: 3-4 weekend shifts within a 6-week period; shifts may be days, evenings, or nights.
  • Holidays: As needed, any shift.
  • Floating: As needed.
  • May care for COVID-19 patients.
  • Tobacco and fragrance-free facility environment.

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Current, valid RN license for Pennsylvania.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) — verify per job description.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, fingerprinting (PA FBI), and Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Education verification (highest degree/diploma/transcripts).
  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days.
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or full vaccine series).
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers.
    • Varicella vaccine or positive titer.
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
    • Flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption during flu season.
    • COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 1 year (agency-specific requirement).
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency.
  • Professional references (2 within last 3 years).
  • Skills checklist and performance evaluations as applicable.
  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge, confidentiality agreements, code of conduct, and health & wellness commitments.
  • Completion of required online learning modules and new hire orientation.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience working with Level I and Level II Trauma patients.
  • Previous travel nursing experience.
  • Experience in the following surgical specialties:
    • Orthopedics
    • Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN)
    • Urology
    • Bariatrics
    • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgery
    • Plastic Surgery
    • Vascular Surgery
    • Thoracic Surgery (excluding cardiac and open heart)
