Job Description

Role: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
Documentation System: Epic
Skills Required:
- General ER care for Adult and Pediatric patients
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care
- Phlebotomy
- Starting IVs
- Continuous IV sedation
- IV vasopressors
- Procedural sedation administration
Traveler Radius: 50 miles
Accepts first-time travelers

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey with primary source verification
NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
State License 1 Verification
Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Arterial line management
Central line care
Continuous IV sedation
IV vasopressors
Procedural sedation administration

Required Background and Compliance Checks

7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
Education verification (highest level)
Employment and work history verification (minimum 7 years; NJ requires at least 1 year prior verified with limited gaps)
Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
Required immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually

Additional Requirements

Physical exam within 12 months of start
Photo for badge
Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
Completion of competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, color blindness, core competencies)
Compliance with orientation safety manual and HIPAA requirements

Notes

Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
This position requires weekend coverage every other weekend.
The role involves working with critically ill patients requiring advanced nursing skills in emergency care.
