Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardio Thoracic ICU
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must have ECMO experience.
- Will float to cardiac stepdown units and other units of equal or lesser acuity.
- Average daily census: 7 patients.
- Rooms/beds: 10.
- Patient ratio: 1:2.
- Documentation system: Epic.
- Previous charge experience preferred.
- Prior travel experience required.
- Required specialty experience: 2 years in Registered Nurse specialty.
Required Skills
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Management of multisystem organ failure.
- Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump.
- Care of post-cardiac surgery patients.
- Pulmonary artery line (Swan-Ganz) monitoring.
- Arterial line and central line care/management.
- PICC line management.
- Continuous IV sedation.
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
- Care of ventilated patients.
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs).
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI may be required as applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care experience (2 years), including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Previous travel experience
- ECMO ICU experience
- Experience with Epic documentation system
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to float to units of equal or lesser acuity.
- Dark gray scrub color required.
- Must pass background checks including 7-year history.
- Education verification required.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
- Required immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
Documentation & Compliance
- Must complete skills checklist annually.
- Work history verification for the past 7 years.
- Complete employment application/resume required.
- Photo for badge required.
- Various competency exams and safety manual acknowledgements as applicable.
Notes
- No local candidates residing in certain nearby counties are eligible.
- Epic documentation experience required.
- This position involves critical care nursing in a cardio-thoracic ICU setting with complex patient care needs.
