Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: Monday – Friday
- Patient population: Pediatrics to Geriatrics
- Possible floating to another nearby facility for STAT inpatient cases
- Call requirements: Possible call 1-2 days per week and every fourth weekend
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- Required to comply fully with orientation and onboarding timelines
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Nuclear Medicine
- 1st time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- NMTCB or ARRT (Nuclear Medicine) certification
- State license: Must be licensed by the State of Georgia as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on specialty area
- Other certifications may be required based on unit or specialty (refer to clinical guidelines)
Clinical Skills & Procedures
- Experience with:
- HIDA scans
- Bone scans
- Lymphoscintigraphy
- Gastric Emptying studies
- Brain Death studies
- Myocardial Perfusion SPECT
- I-123 scan/uptake
- I-131 Whole body scan and Ablations (<30 mCi)
- Renal scans with or without Lasix
- Parathyroid scans
- Familiarity with Epic, Pyxis, and PACS systems required
- Scrub color options: Black, Gray, or Purple
Compliance & Screening
- Background check required within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification required (degree or equivalent certification)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- Color blindness test required
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency may be required depending on unit
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Verification of recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Two clinical references required
- Must review and sign code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start
Work Environment
- No weekend shifts except for call
- Maximum return-to-office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Floating to other nearby facility possible for urgent inpatient cases
Requirements/Qualifications
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Recent Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
- NMTCB or ARRT (Nuclear Medicine) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
This position is suitable for Nuclear Medicine Technologists with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working with a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures and patient populations from pediatrics to geriatrics. Prior travel experience is not required.
