Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVOR
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 hours (3 shifts of 12 hours)

Patient Ratio: Average 1:2
Job Description
- Must independently scrub cardiac surgery and circulate in the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room).
- Weekend requirement: Two 24-hour calls per schedule.
- On-call requirement: 2 calls per Monday-Friday week (either 7pm-11pm or 7pm-7am) with 1 day per week available to stay late.
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required.
- Block scheduling is not accommodated.
- Pending license accepted, but must have an active license prior to start date.
- Guaranteed hours.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Connecticut.
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, with CVOR experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Schedule & Work Environment
- 3x12 hour shifts per week.
- Average patient ratio 1:2.
- Must be able to work weekends and be on-call as specified.
- Short Term Acute Care facility, Level I Trauma Center.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color provided.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start; must be updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification and foreign equivalency evaluation (if applicable).
- Drug screening: 10 panel drug screen within 12 months.
- Physical exam within 12 months.
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health documents including TB test, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccination or exemption, and COVID vaccination preferred.
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required (e.g., Stroke Education, CLABSI Prevention, Pressure Injury Training, Language Services Training, Suicide Risk Assessment, Pyxis MedStation, Baxter Pump Training, Patient Bedside Rounding, VAD Awareness, Blood Administration, New Employee Orientation, 21st Century Cures Act, ED Handbook, eCart Training, Chaperone Policy Training).
Additional Requirements
- One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU assignments.
- 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days.
- Skills checklist and work history verification required within 12 months.
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain units (including CVOR).

- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions apply for absences longer than 7 days.
