Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse for Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units. This is a travel/contract position requiring compliance with various credentialing, health, and competency requirements prior to and during the assignment.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in the specialty (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry).

  • Certifications:

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for MS/Tele units
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred but not required
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required only for L&D, OB/GYN, NICU (not required here)
    • Other certifications such as TNCC, CNOR, CHEMO are preferred or not required depending on unit.
  • Background Checks:

    • Comprehensive background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, SSN trace, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification.
    • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
    • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Health Requirements:

    • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
    • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
    • Immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap (every 10 years), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination (or approved exemptions).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually.
    • Drug screening (standard 10 panel) within 12 months, updated annually.
    • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year.
  • Competency and Testing:

    • Baseline competency exams for medication administration and ECG interpretation required for bedside RNs (except OR).
    • Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety modules prior to start.
    • Pass/fail testing on medication and ECG interpretation during orientation.
  • Documentation:

    • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
    • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
    • Two professional references from within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
    • Photo for badge (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
    • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete all required onboarding modules on a computer using Google Chrome prior to clearance to start.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start date.
  • Candidates with gaps in employment greater than 30 days may need to update physical and eye exams.
  • Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position.
