Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Morganton, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Night shift position in Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit
• Unit includes 16 LDRP rooms, C-section Suite, PACU on L&D unit, and a 4-bed Special Care Nursery
• Requires experience in L&D and mother/baby care
• Closed specialty unit with no floating to other units outside Family Center
• Support staff available including preadmit nurse, discharge planner/case worker, maternity navigator, unit educator, and lactation consultant
• Focus on continuous improvement and best practices in maternal and infant care
• Involved in process improvement projects and innovative programs such as Eat, Sleep, Console for infants with withdrawal symptoms, validated prenatal screening tools, safe sleep initiatives, mental health expansion, Narcan education, and upcoming projects on late preterm infant care and sepsis in obstetrical care

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
