Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Acute Long Term Care (Nights)
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The RN provides direct and indirect nursing care to residents in a therapeutic environment. The role involves working on specialized units including:
- 3 East: 31-bed unit specializing in Alzheimer's/dementia care, focusing on tailored communication techniques and managing difficult behaviors associated with these conditions.
- Transitional Rehabilitation Unit: 42-bed unit providing short-term skilled nursing and rehab services for patients recovering from fractures, joint replacements, back surgery, stroke, and other short-term illnesses or injuries. Nursing duties include IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment and management.
- 3 West: 42-bed long-term care unit providing care for residents needing long-term placement in a home-like environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 2 years of Long Term Care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification
Additional Information
- Candidates with licensure issues will not be considered.
- Previous employees are not accepted.
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
- The employer reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
- Candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.
- BLS/BCLS certification required.
Notes for Applicants
- This position requires flexibility and the ability to work nights.
- Experience with dementia/Alzheimer’s care and rehabilitation nursing is beneficial.
- The role involves both long-term and short-term patient care settings.
