Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Room (ER) with at least 2 years of ER experience. First-time travelers are accepted. The position requires working 2 weekends per month and includes floating within scope to multiple nearby hospitals (within 20 miles).
Work Schedule
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per month
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Locals accepted at the same rate
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Room nursing
Required Certifications
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (must obtain prior to start)
All certifications must be current at time of submission except NIHSS, which must be obtained before starting.
Licensure
- Active RN license in Florida required (pending licenses not accepted)
Special Requirements
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system at a proficiency level of 3 or 4
- Must be nicotine-free (smoke-free facility) with negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine (cotinine) test
- Must include all requested time-off (RTO) upfront with submission; additions later may not be approved
Floating
- Will float within scope to three hospitals within a 20-mile radius

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal exclusions
- Fingerprinting per Florida AHCA Level II requirements (must be cleared prior to start)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations/vaccinations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel within 1 year (no Florida Medical Marijuana card accepted)
- Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Pass/fail testing on EKG and pharmacology during orientation
- Professional references: 2 required within 2 years for travel positions
- State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

- This is a smoke-free facility; nicotine use is not permitted
- Candidates must be prepared for time-sensitive Epic modules immediately upon assignment confirmation

Requirements/Qualifications
