Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Weekend and holiday rotations required
- Call: No call required
- Floating: Floating between campuses as needed
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing
- PCU experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Specialty Requirements
- Experience in Cardiac Telemetry required
- Experience managing and interpreting dysrhythmias
- Experience with peripheral line care/management and PICC line management
- Ability to titrate drips
- Experience working with PCU nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5
Required Certifications
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment
Licensure
- Primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Transcript/Diploma as applicable
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Fit mask test (annual) with approved N95 respirators
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- References: 2 supervisory references required from recent assignments
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Employment verification for last 5 years
Additional Information
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
- Floating between campuses is mandatory as needed
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Orientation and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to start date
- Candidates must complete a health history form and upload prior to clearance
- Some units may require additional certifications or competencies (e.g., Medication Test, Crisis Prevention Institute)
Summary
This is a travel Registered Nurse position on a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with night shifts and rotating weekends/holidays. The role requires at least 2 years of RN experience with cardiac telemetry skills, including dysrhythmia management and peripheral line care. Candidates must hold current NC RN licensure and required certifications including ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Certification. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and testing is mandatory. Floating between campuses is required.
