Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical

Location: Manning, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Maintain a professional image and provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
• Assess patient needs based on history, observation, physical examination, and data analysis.
• Provide nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician’s medical orders.
• Conduct hourly patient rounds using the 4 P’s (Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Placement of items).
• Foster a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment for patients, families, and visitors.
• Use appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.
• Care for central lines, chest tubes, Foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and patients at high risk for falls following standard protocols.
• Precept and mentor novice employees to support department performance.
• Participate in hospital initiatives promoting Evidence Based Practices.
• Engage in continued professional growth through goal setting and educational opportunities.
• Understand and manage safe storage and administration of medications, including large volume IVs and pre-packaged kits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
