Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Weekend and holiday rotations required
  • Call: No call required
  • Floating: Floating between campuses as needed

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers are welcome)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Cardiac Telemetry
  • Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Peripheral line care and management, including PICC lines
  • Ability to titrate drips
  • Experience working with PCU (Progressive Care Unit) nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5
  • Flexibility with scheduling and adherence to strict attendance policies

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
  • NURSYS verification within 60 days of start
  • Other certifications as applicable to specialty and unit

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Health documents including:
    • Physical exam (within 12 months)
    • Fit mask test (annual, approved N95 respirators)
    • Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemption
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
    • TB testing and questionnaire
  • References: 2 supervisory references required from recent assignments
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Work history verification for last 5 years

Additional Information

  • Candidates must be aware of and agree to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
  • Floating policy must be reviewed and signed
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
  • Candidates will receive onboarding instructions including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification
  • CPR certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • EKG certification
  • Successful completion and acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with minimum passing standards
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
