Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Outpatient
Location: Charlotte, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: Monday-Thursday 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Friday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- No floating or weekend shifts required
- Hospital-based outpatient clinic serving a diverse patient population
- Majority of patients are orthopedic cases (total joint replacements, sports injuries)
- Additional patient types include vestibular, neurologic, and lymphedema conditions
- Specialty services offered (dry needling, pelvic health) but not required
- Daily patient load: 8-12 patients during an 8-hour day
- Productivity standard: 3.00 units/hour
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience working with geriatric patients
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Michigan
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Work Hours & Shifts
- Guaranteed hours vary by shift length:
- 36 hours for 3 shifts of 12 hours
- 48 hours for 4 shifts of 12 hours
- 40 hours for shifts under 12 hours (8 or 10-hour shifts)
Facility & Work Environment
- Critical Access facility
- Attire: Polos with black slacks
- Charting system: Epic preferred
- Free parking with badge
Additional Requirements
- Must submit required documentation at time of application (e.g., state ID, social security card, background checks)
- Background checks must be current (within 30 days of assignment start) and include multiple screenings such as criminal history and education verification
- Physical exam required within 12 months of start, noting latex sensitivity
- Immunizations and health screenings required, including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or declination
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety modules required

- Two references from previous employers required
- Current resume with at least 7 years of work history required
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
Summary
This outpatient Physical Therapist role offers a stable weekday schedule with no weekends or floating, serving primarily orthopedic patients with opportunities to work with neurologic and vestibular cases. New graduates are encouraged to apply. A Michigan PT license and BLS certification are required. The position is a 13-week travel contract with guaranteed hours and a supportive hospital-based outpatient environment.
