Registered Nurse - GI Lab
Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Registered Nurse needed for GI Lab with advanced procedure experience.
- Must be able to work 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts, plus call.
- Assist or circulate during advanced GI procedures such as:
- ERCP
- PEG placement
- EUS
- Spyglass
- FNA/FNB
- Capsule endoscopy
- Bronchoscopies and EBUS
- Experience with moderate sedation and pain management preferred.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not explicitly required.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA accepted (Instructor, Provider, RQI)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA accepted (Instructor, Provider, RQI)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA accepted (Instructor, Provider, RQI)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Minimum of 1 year of endoscopy experience, including experience within the last year.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- National Tech Certification Verification.
- Completion and acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually.
- Federal and state-level screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start.
- Education verification (highest level) required.
- State-specific employability and misconduct registry checks required within 30 days of start.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start.
- Required vaccinations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (with religious or medical exemption accepted).
- Fit mask test (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) within 12 months of start; updated annually.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed.
Competency and Testing
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Color blindness test (online Ishihara version accepted).
- Pass/fail testing for Telemetry RNs (EKG/Medication knowledge).
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must review and sign various facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements prior to start.
- Orientation includes required modules (~3-4 hours).
- Parking available for orientation and employment at no cost.
Experience
- Advanced GI procedure nursing experience required.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not mandatory.
