Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Hillsboro, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (LDRP RN)
- Shift Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient Population: Low to moderate risk laboring patients, antepartum, postpartum patients, and newborns
- Unit Responsibilities:
- Triage patients in two triage rooms and perform maternal and newborn assessments
- Circulate and recover C-sections in OR suite and private rooms
- Provide newborn transition care including initiating Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) interventions such as CPAP and PPV until additional help arrives
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
- Experience with triage
- Baby nurse/transition experience
- LDRP - Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum experience
Required Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association provider only, traditional AHA certification required)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification required
- ACLS and PALS certifications are noted but not explicitly required for this role
Licensing
- Must have an active Oregon RN license or have the application submitted and received by the Oregon licensing board prior to start (pending licenses accepted with application in process)
Additional Requirements
- Floating within the hospital required; floating to other hospitals not required
- Locals accepted
- Block scheduling accommodations not available
- Maximum 1 week return-to-office restriction
Facility & Work Environment
- Short term acute care facility with Level III trauma center designation
- Teaching hospital environment
- Charting system: EPIC

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Drug screening: 10-panel including methamphetamines within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming good physical and mental health
- Fit testing for masks completed onsite on first day, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required or documented declinations accepted for:
- Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (immune titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (immune titer and 3 vaccines or signed declination)
- Varicella (immune titer or 2 vaccines)
- Annual TB testing with Qgold or TSPOT (PPD not accepted)
- Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, vaccine declination forms, and safety manual acknowledgements required
References & Competencies
- At least 2 professional employment references required
- Skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams required with passing grade of 85% or higher, updated annually
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Labor and Delivery RN with at least 2 years of LDRP experience. The role requires night shifts, weekend work, and the ability to manage low to moderate risk laboring patients and newborns. Candidates must hold or be in the process of obtaining an Oregon RN license and have current BLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications. Prior travel experience is not accepted for this assignment. The facility uses EPIC for charting and provides scrubs for OR work. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and competency testing is mandatory.
