Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) night shift (7 PM - 7 AM). The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac diagnoses, including cardiothoracic surgical patients (travelers will not take fresh open heart patients). The role requires floating to ICU, CPU, PCU, and occasionally to medical-surgical/Telemetry with a low patient load in those areas.

Unit Details

• 8 beds designated as cardiac progressive (stepdown) with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Staff rotate days on stepdown unit
• Medication system: Omnicell
• Documentation system: EPIC

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM)
• 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac PCU (Progressive Care Unit) within the last year
• Experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
• Experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• BKAT (Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool) certification

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CCRN preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (with exceptions for breaks in assignment)
• Up-to-date immunizations including Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including marijuana/THC)
• Background check within 30 days of start
• Professional references (2 standard)
• Employment application

Orientation & Testing

• Pass/fail exams on EKG, medication administration, and critical care knowledge required at orientation
• EPIC documentation testing on day 1
• Dysrhythmia guide and competency check-off required prior to start

Float Requirements

• ICU, CPU, PCU, occasionally medical-surgical/Telemetry (with max 4 patients)

Notes

• Facility sensitive to DNR status; candidates with recent DNRs may be redirected
• Weekend shifts required as part of schedule
• 8, 10, and 12-hour shift rules apply for called off hours and guaranteed hours

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with cardiac experience looking for a travel contract opportunity in Georgia. Prior travel experience is not required.
