Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Valdosta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• Float position covering multiple units as needed: ER holding, Postpartum, Step Down
• Patient population: Adults
• Patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:5-6
  • Nights: 1:6
• Care for a variety of Med/Surg patients including general surgery, ortho, neuro, post-stroke, and medical cases
• Schedule: Every other weekend required; block scheduling not guaranteed unless working every weekend
• Shift options: 3 or 4 shifts of 12 hours (36-48 hours/week)
• Medication system: Omnicell
• Documentation system: EPIC

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC for ER, NIH Stroke Certification for ER/ICU)

Schedule & Work Rules

• Float as needed to various units within Med/Surg scope
• Called off rules based on shift length (8, 10, or 12 hours) with incremental hour limits per 2-week period
• Guaranteed hours vary by shift length

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Valid RN license for Georgia
• Background check within 30 days of start
• Copy of official transcript or diploma
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, renewed yearly
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or documentation if previously positive)
• Immunizations or titers for: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including Marijuana/THC)
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Mask fit testing completed at orientation
• Photo for badge (passport style, white background)
• Facility-specific orientation and testing including EPIC, medication, and EKG exams

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required
• Must be willing to float to different units within Med/Surg scope
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and complete required training modules prior to start
• References: 2 professional references required

This position is ideal for a Med/Surg RN with at least 1 year of experience who is flexible and comfortable floating across multiple adult care units.
