Registered Nurse - ICU (Float Pool)

Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Float pool position requiring flexibility to work across multiple ICU units.
  • Units include: Medical ICU (MICU), Surgical/Trauma ICU (SICU), Neuro ICU, Cardiac ICU (CICU), and Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU).
  • Patient care involves basic ICU patients such as sedated, intubated, and patients on pressors.
  • No care for high complexity patients like those requiring CRRT.
  • Patient ratios: 1:2 in ICU, 1:3 in Intermediate Care (IMC).
  • Shift options: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • Weekend requirement: 75% of hours on weekends.
  • No call requirements.
  • EMR system used: EPIC.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maine
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Acute care hospital experience
  • Must be willing and able to float to multiple ICU units as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of ICU experience preferred.

Additional Information

  • Candidate must be focused on outstanding patient care and effective team communication.
  • Flexibility to take multiple assignments in the same shift if necessary.
  • Dress code: scrubs (color non-specific), no open-toed shoes, no jeans, no clothing with large logos or profanity.
