Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology Tech)
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 4 cases per tech
  • On-call: Yes, rotation with two other techs
  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
  • Floating: No floating between units or facilities required

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year

  • Facility Type: Tertiary hospital
  • Scrubs: OR scrubs provided by facility
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: Free parking available
  • Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June - November), with peak activity in August and September

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Licensure:
    • South Carolina state license required (SC RN license for nursing roles; for this tech role, ARRT and SCQRSA apply)
    • Primary source verification required
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam updated annually
    • Immunizations and titers: Tdap (within 10 years or declination), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold; T-spot not accepted)
    • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
    • Flu vaccination required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption
    • COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Other Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as applicable (check with recruiter for unit-specific requirements)
  • Competency Exams: Medication and other competency exams as applicable

Orientation & Facility Specifics

  • Orientation:
    • Completion of facility-specific modules prior to start is mandatory (estimated 4 hours)
    • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
    • Various signed acknowledgments and agreements required before start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, HIPAA Attestation)
  • Radiation Badge Process:
    • Must be obtained prior to starting patient care duties
    • May take 5-7 days to process and ship to traveler
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use (cost approx. $22)

Additional Notes

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted; local radius is 60 miles
  • Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval depending on unit needs
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Work History Verification: Required for last 3 clinical employers unless otherwise approved
