Description
Radiation Therapist (Full Time Days)
Location: Lancaster, Ohio
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Radiation Therapist performs radiotherapy procedures as prescribed by a physician according to established standards and practices. Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will comply with laws, regulations, and established policies and guidelines.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- No weekends or on-call
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in radiography
Licensure/Certification
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Ohio
- State of Ohio Licensed Radiation Therapist
- Registered through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy
- BLS certified
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of radiation therapy experience, including experience within the last year
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed radiation therapy using appropriate equipment according to standards
- Obtain patient history, answer questions, and observe patients for reactions during treatment
- Follow departmental policies, safety, infection control, and quality improvement standards
- Schedule patients and coordinate with physicists and supportive care teams
- Verify prescriptions, diagnoses, and patient identification for accurate treatment
- Prepare documentation including treatment plans, progress reports, and evaluations
- Prepare treatment rooms and assist patients with positioning and transfers, ensuring care with catheters, IVs, oxygen, and other life support devices
- Reinforce physician and care provider recommendations regarding treatment side effects and care
- Perform verification and port film exposures, making adjustments as directed
- Participate in ongoing education, in-service meetings, and professional development
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Medium work: exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds often
Additional Information
- Experience with Truebeam/Aria systems preferred
- Ohio Department of Health License preferred upon submission
