Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12 hours (examples: 1900-0730, 2300-0730, 1500-2330)
- Schedule: Every other weekend rotation, holidays, and one on-call shift every 6-week scheduling period
- Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years as a staff respiratory therapist
- Experience with both pediatric and adult patients preferred
- Prior experience working in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or a hospital of similar size is required
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Graduate of a COARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Certifications (Check unit description for requirements)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific competency exams and orientation, including telemetry testing if applicable
- Background checks and education verifications are required per facility and state standards
- Compliance with Wisconsin state-mandated caregiver screening and BID form completion
- Required health documents include immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), TB testing, flu vaccination or approved exemption, and drug screening per standards
- Physical exam and fit mask testing completed onsite
- References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience working in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or a hospital of similar size

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Pediatric and adult experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Facility requires strict adherence to testing and certification renewal deadlines
- Orientation and competency testing include telemetry exams with remediation processes if needed
