Job Description

Seeking an Endoscopy Registered Nurse to provide care in an acute hospital setting. The position involves working 4 shifts of 10 hours each (40 hours per week). The nurse will be on-call every 5th weekend. Floating outside the scope of the unit is not required. Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alaska
  • Minimum 1 year of Endoscopy experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Must have an active Alaska RN license (preferred to have license in hand for auto offer). Pending license accepted with strong preference for Alaska RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Preferred certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and SGNA certification.

Required Skills

  • Experience with procedures including: Per UD, EUS, EBUS, ERCP, ION, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy.

Schedule and Work Conditions

  • Shift: 4x10 hour days (40 hours/week).
  • On-call required every 5th weekend.
  • Only one time-off request allowed per 13-week assignment (up to 5 days). No holiday time off for auto offer.
  • Guaranteed 70 hours per 2 weeks; may be called off for one 10-hour shift per 2 weeks.
  • Scrub color provided.
  • Charting system: Epic.
  • Parking: Free.

Additional Requirements and Compliance

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
  • Fit mask testing required for travel nurses, updated annually.
  • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required.

Training and Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually.
  • Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for Endoscopy and related areas
    • Basics of Trauma Informed Care (required at this facility)
  • Epic charting training modules required.

Notes

  • Locals are not accepted; candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
  • Pending license accepted but strong preference for Alaska RN license in hand.
  • Floating outside the unit scope is not required.
  • Block scheduling accommodations are possible.
