Description

Registered Nurse (Neuro MedSurg)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: 6 West - Neuro
Beds: 20 (14 floor beds)
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6 for floor patients
Nurse aide ratio: 1:7-10 with 3 nurse aides per shift
Telemetry unit with monitor techs; RNs do not read strips but verify readings in the electronic health record system
Respiratory therapy available 24/7; RNs are not required to have ventilator experience
Charge nurse coverage 24/7
Possible floating to other units as needed

Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS)
Stroke
Seizures
Surgical/Postoperative spine patients
Various neurological disorders

Required Certifications & Skills

BLS (AHA) required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required and must be current at time of submission
ACLS preferred
Recent experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
Strong neuro experience required, including proficiency with G-tubes
Titration of drips generally done by physician orders; some protocols may allow RN titration with education

Work Schedule & Requirements

Weekend shifts required:
- Weekend day shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- Weekend night shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday OR Saturday, Sunday, Monday
Weekday night shifts include every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per schedule
Holiday shifts required as part of rotation
Travelers should be flexible; 3 consecutive shifts may be allowed but not guaranteed

Orientation

One shift orientation on the unit for full-time night shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Includes weekends and holidays as scheduled

Required Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for West Virginia
BLS (AHA) certification
NIHSS certification (must be current)
Recent EPIC experience
Strong neuro med-surg clinical experience

Additional Notes

Any background hits must be disclosed at time of submission
Scrub color/dress code: any combination of white and royal blue
