Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care primarily on Medical Surgical and Pulmonary units.
• Patient types include Pulmonary and Med Surg patients.
• Float across multiple campuses within the local area.
• Unit details:

  • Bed size: 23
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:4-6
  • Drip medications include Heparin.
• May care for ventilated patients on BiPAP, trach care, and COVID+ patients.
• Charge nurse responsibilities required.
• Level I trauma experience is highly preferred.

Schedule & Hours

• 36-40 hours per week, with overtime after 40 hours.
• Night shift.

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
• Minimum 24 months of Medical Surgical nursing experience (required).
• Pulmonary patient care experience (required).
• Charge nurse experience (required).
• Experience caring for Pulmonary/Ventilated patients on BiPAP and trach care is highly preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or Red Cross (required).
• Valid driver’s license (required).
• Skills checklist specific to Medical Surgical nursing (required).
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months preferred.
• First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the 2+ years Medical Surgical experience requirement.

Additional Information

• Orientation start date in early June.
• Must be willing to float across multiple campuses.
• Experience with level I trauma patients is a plus.
