Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Richland, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Day shift generally 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (may vary by a couple of hours)
- Floating: No floating between units
- On-Call: Yes, after 5:30 PM until 7:00 AM (schedule to be determined)
- Weekends: Rotating weekends required
- Block Schedules: Not required
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Special Requirements: Experience with both adult and pediatric echocardiography
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in adult echocardiography, with recent experience within the last year
- Experience in pediatric echocardiography
- Must hold a valid license appropriate for Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer in Washington
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Other certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM, IV Certification)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Comprehensive background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, death master index, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, education verification, motor vehicle record (if applicable), and international background check if applicable
- Background must be current and cleared before start
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates
- References: Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment history
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Immunizations and Health Requirements:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with declination option
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with declination option
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination
- Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use (annual)
- Fit mask testing (annual, travel only)
- Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency and other specialty-specific competency exams as applicable
Work Environment and Expectations
- Patient Population: Adult and pediatric patients requiring echocardiography
- Workload: 1:1 patient ratio
- Schedule: Day shift with rotating weekends and on-call hours after 5:30 PM
- Floating: No floating between units
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules annually via the employer’s LMS platform before starting and during the contract
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start
- Must comply with state-specific licensing and background check requirements for Washington
- Candidates working with out-of-state compact licenses in Washington must complete demographic attestations as required
This position is ideal for experienced Echo Techs or Cardiac Sonographers comfortable with both adult and pediatric echocardiography, flexible with rotating weekends and on-call shifts, and able to meet comprehensive compliance and credentialing requirements.
