Job Description

• Acute inpatient behavioral health nursing position.
• Ratio: 1 nurse to 12 patients.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month.
• Float required.
• EMR system used: Cerner eCare.
• Medication documentation via Omnicell.
• Travelers requesting time off during holidays will generally not be accommodated (specific holiday dates apply).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in an inpatient setting.
• Acute care experience.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check completed within 45 days of start, including 7-year history and alias name attestation if applicable.
• State RN license verification within 30 days of start, must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start.
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA confirming fitness for duty.
• Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year of start; chest x-ray if prior positive.
• Drug testing within 45 days of start covering a comprehensive panel of substances.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine required for starts on or after 9/8/2025 (no declinations accepted; exemptions require documentation).
• Competency exams required within 12 months of start:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (80% pass rate required)
  • Core competencies Part I, II, and III (80% pass rate required annually)
  • Color Blind Testing within 12 months prior to start (100% score required)
• Photo for badge with solid background, no filters or facial piercings.
• Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days.
• Two supervisory references from the past 3 years.

Additional Information

• Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
• Travelers must comply with holiday time-off restrictions.
• Must be willing to float to other units as needed.
• Local candidates must provide a utility bill or lease/mortgage statement with an address at least 75 miles from the contracted facility.
