Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CCU

Location: Travelers Rest, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (may change based on need)
  • Unit: LTAC ICU (Long-Term Acute Care Intensive Care Unit)
  • Unit Size: 12 Bed ICU and 31 Bed Med-Surg Unit; staff work both units
  • Floating: Required to float to other units as needed, only to units where qualified and competent
  • Patient Population: Adults 18 years and older
  • Common Patient Diagnoses: Ventilator weaning, wound care, spinal cord injury, tracheostomy, PEG tubes
  • Special Equipment: EPIC electronic health record system (minimum 1 year experience required), Omnicell medication system

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system (minimum 1 year)
  • Ability to float to other units as needed, only to units where qualified and competent

Orientation and Training

  • Approximately 12 hours of mandatory online modules must be completed before starting
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite, followed by clinical precepted orientation
  • Pass/fail testing on medication administration and EKG/arrhythmia knowledge required
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required annually

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations and/or titers required:
    • TB test (2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years if working in high-risk areas
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required annually (not required for remote workers)
  • Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually (5-panel minimum)
  • Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation

Additional Notes

  • First-time travel nurses may be accepted depending on specialty experience
  • Floating is a mandatory part of the assignment to meet census needs
  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, plain background)
  • Background checks include 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and others as required
  • Annual competency exams and training required, including Core Parts I, II, and III covering safety, ethics, and patient care standards

This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs with EPIC experience who are flexible and willing to float between ICU and Med-Surg units.
