ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Georgia

Contract Length

  • 12 weeks

Unit Details

  • Care for critically ill medical/surgical patients including:
    • Sepsis
    • Cardiac arrest
    • Cardiovascular disease
    • Respiratory failure
    • Alcohol/drug overdose and withdrawal
    • Post-op surgical care
    • Gastrointestinal bleeding
    • End of life/comfort care
    • COVID-19 complications
  • ICU split into two floors:
    • Higher acuity upstairs (1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio)
    • Lower acuity downstairs (1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio with additional patient care technician support)
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • No on-call required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year ICU experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience is NOT required

Work Expectations

  • Must work major holidays if they fall during assignment:
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
    • Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
    • New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Orientation required (number of non-billable hours depends on contract length)
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements mandatory to start on time

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required for critical care specialties
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (e.g., PALS, NRP) — verify based on clinical area
  • Competency exams required:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
    • Color Blind Testing
    • General competency exam for nursing staff
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • TB questionnaire (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended
  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (degree related to nursing)
  • Skills checklist within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Floating within the facility as needed
  • No call responsibilities
  • Orientation scheduling is bi-weekly; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks
  • Must review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity ICU environment with a supportive staffing model and a variety of critical care patient populations. It is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of ICU experience, including those new to travel nursing.
