Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (1900-0730), options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
Weekend Requirement: Yes
Start Date: ASAP


Position Overview

  • Provide care for low to moderate risk laboring patients, antepartum, postpartum patients, and their newborns.
  • Manage triage in two triage rooms and perform maternal and newborn assessments.
  • Circulate and recover C-sections in the OR suite and private rooms.
  • Floating within the hospital required; no floating to other hospitals.
  • Block scheduling accommodations not available.
  • Locals accepted.
  • Pending Oregon license accepted if application is submitted and received by the licensing board prior to start.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Valid RN license in Oregon.
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP).
  • Triage experience.
  • Baby nurse/transition experience.
  • Skills in IV starts, triage, and newborn transitions.

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA provider only, traditional certification required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Licensure

  • Active, unrestricted Oregon RN license required.
  • Pending license accepted if application is submitted and received by the Oregon licensing board before start date.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be available for weekend shifts.
  • No call required.
  • Must comply with facility-specific background checks including 7-year criminal background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming good physical and mental health.
  • Fit testing for respiratory protection required onsite on first day and annually thereafter.
  • Drug testing: 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 30 days prior to start.
  • Immunizations and titers required or documented declinations accepted for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (immune titer and/or vaccine series or signed declination)
    • Varicella
  • Annual TB testing with Qgold or TSPOT required; PPD not accepted.
  • Flu vaccine or signed declination required during flu season.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation safety manual and compliance documents required prior to start.
  • At least 2 professional employment references required.

Facility & Work Environment

  • Short term acute care facility with Level III trauma center designation.
  • Teaching hospital environment.
  • 167 staffed beds.
  • Electronic charting system: EPIC.
  • Free parking available.
  • Scrubs provided for OR.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this assignment.
  • Floating is limited to within the hospital only.
  • Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
  • Locals are accepted.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who are comfortable with newborn resuscitation and triage, and who meet the required certifications and licensure criteria.
