Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele (Transplant and Hepatology Unit)

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry on a transplant and hepatology surgical unit
  • Total Beds: 36 (high acuity surgical unit)
  • Patient Population: Solid organ transplant (lung, liver, kidney, pancreas recipients and donors), thoracic surgery, hepatology
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: Typically 1:4-5, with 2:1 or 3:1 ratios for the most acute transplant patients
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Shifts: Rotating, various days of the week
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, per unit needs
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope and possibly to sister units/facilities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Colorado
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Specialty Details

  • This is a highly specialized surgical unit focused on complex solid organ transplant and thoracic surgery patients
  • The unit admits transplant patients directly from the OR and provides intensive post-operative care
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including transplant, hepatology, and thoracic surgery providers
  • Nurses are expected to provide expert care for critically ill surgical patients and support patients and families through the transplant process

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) days limited to 10 maximum with blackout periods during specific dates in 2026
  • Scrub color: Navy
  • Candidates must be comfortable with floating as needed
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements (Summary)

  • Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
  • Health documents including physical exam, immunizations (TDAP, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella), negative TB test or chest X-ray, drug testing, and COVID vaccination or declination
  • Competency exams and annual updates (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, core competencies, OSHA)
  • Fit mask testing within 12 months, with onsite testing options available
  • Color blindness testing (Ishihara exam required)
  • References: 2 professional references from the last 2 years, including one from the last year
  • Employment history verification for the last 3 years with explanations for any gaps

This travel RN position offers the opportunity to work in a prestigious, high-acuity transplant and hepatology surgical unit in Colorado. It requires at least 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year, BLS certification, and a valid Colorado RN license.
