Job Description
- Position in Cardiac ICU (Critical Care Unit) working night shifts
- Patient ratio approximately 1:2 (day, night, weekends)
- Float requirement: ICU and Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- No call required
- Experience with PA catheters and critical care required
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Will accept candidates with 1.5 years of experience if from a Level 1 trauma center or large hospital
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Facility uses Epic for charting
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Connecticut
- Minimum 1.5 years critical care experience (higher experience preferred if applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and other standard screenings
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test for N95 mask within 12 months, updated annually
- Required immunizations and health screenings including TB test, Tdap (preferred for some specialties), MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, flu vaccination or approved exemption, and drug screening
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 85% score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU and telemetry units
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations (e.g., Stroke Education, CLABSI Prevention, Pressure Injury Prevention, Language Services, Suicide Risk Assessment, Pyxis MedStation, Baxter Pump Interoperability, Patient Bedside Rounding, Ventricular Assist Device Awareness, Blood Administration, New Employee Orientation, 21st Century Cures Act, ED Handbook, eCart Training, Chaperone Policy)
- One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardiac ICU candidates (charge nurse references not accepted)
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for the last 7 years
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure if applicable

- Float pool assignments may include ICU and PCU units
- No local candidates required
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center with short-term acute care services
- Parking available at a monthly cost
- Candidates must complete all required background checks and verifications prior to start
- Various certifications and competencies must be current and verifiable
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to work nights in a Cardiac ICU setting.
