Job Opportunity: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Hondo, Texas
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
- Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
- Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly, documenting in clinical records.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and modify services based on patient evaluations.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
- Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries per regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Document all required information accurately in electronic systems and maintain patient records.
- Record treatment minutes in compliance with regulatory and clinical standards.
- Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and other required meetings.
- Attend facility and company-required trainings, in-services, and conferences.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as required.
- Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
- Adhere to ASHA and State practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience within the last year
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
- Experience in Long Term Care settings
- Experience in Rehabilitation settings
- Experience in supervisory roles
Additional Information
- Work schedule: 8-hour day shifts.
- Facility size: Small, 75 beds.
- Facility ratings: Short-term rehabilitation rated Average; Long-term care rated Below Average.
This position is suitable for experienced SLPs or new graduates with appropriate clinical fellowship experience seeking temporary work in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting.
