Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must be willing to float to other med/surg and telemetry units as assigned.
  • Facility may consider alternating 36/48 hour shifts or straight 48-hour shifts.
  • Patient ratios up to 6:1.
  • Start date expected within the next 3-5 weeks.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
  • Prior travel experience strongly preferred (not explicitly required but highly favored).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg / Telemetry.
  • At least 1 year of recent experience in Med Surg / Telemetry within the last year.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background check: 7-year history, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check; must be renewed annually.
  • E-Verify or attestation required within 30 days of start.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification for RN license required within 30 days of start.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update).
  • Facility-specific documents including Standards of Conduct, Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement, Standards of Behavior, COVID declination (if applicable), HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules, Orientation and Safety Training Modules, and Annual TB Questionnaire.
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Fit mask test required within 1 year; updated annually.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray required (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year; chest X-ray within 2 years for positive responders; annual TB questionnaire).
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
    • Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal.
    • Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal.
    • Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal.
    • Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination.
    • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal.
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start; must include specified panels.
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (October-April); mask required if declination submitted.
  • COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required; annual boosters not required.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references within the last 3 years.
  • Resume or employment application required.
  • Skills checklist required and must be updated annually.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is strongly preferred but not explicitly required.
  • Floating between med/surg and telemetry units is expected.
  • Shift flexibility includes 36/48 alternating or straight 48-hour shifts.
  • Patient ratios may be as high as 6:1.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with med/surg and telemetry skills who are flexible with shifts and unit assignments and who meet the comprehensive certification and compliance requirements.
