Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in Burlington, North Carolina


Job Details

  • Location: Burlington, North Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Every other week (EOW), holidays as needed
  • Float: Required to float between all facilities in the system
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Specialty Focus: Inpatient care with a specialized stroke (neurology) patient population

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in EKG interpretation
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Experience with feeding tube care and management
  • Skilled in central line care and management
  • Skilled in PICC line management
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications and Licenses Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Pass/fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam required (must score 82% or higher; 2 attempts allowed)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) — verify with recruiter/unit

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella titer or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Physical exam (if applicable)
  • Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year
  • Fingerprinting required for certain positions (Home Health and Long-Term Care only)

Additional Requirements

  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Must complete all compliance documentation by deadlines prior to start date
  • Must review and sign floating policy (required for all agency staff)
  • Must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility guidelines (no selfies, solid background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required
  • Verification of employment history for the last 5 years required
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months
