Registered Nurse - Flex Pool (Days)

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Float between various medical and surgical units including Medical, Surgical Acute (Laulima Unit), and Cardiovascular Unit (rarely).
  • Work 12-hour day shifts (06:45 AM to 07:15 PM).
  • Scheduled for 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation (no guaranteed hours).
  • Use equipment such as Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes.

Unit Details

  • Medical Unit: 77 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
  • Surgical Acute (Laulima Unit): 18 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6
  • Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4
  • Ratios may vary due to unexpected leaves.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Hawaii
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Orientation & Additional Information

  • Orientation provided for each unit.
  • Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
  • Prior travel experience is required.
