Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Home Health

Location: Largo, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 20 weeks

Job Description

Provide skilled physical therapy services in a home health setting, working with patients who have a variety of medical and surgical conditions including cardiac, orthopedic, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical diagnoses.

Patient Population Includes:

• Med/surg, cardiac, ortho (hips/knees/shoulders)
• Post-surgical patients
• COPD, CHF, pneumonia
• Stroke (CVA), Parkinson’s disease, trauma
• Amputations (AKA, BKA)
• Patients with tracheostomies
• Patients with weakness, failure to thrive, respiratory issues
• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) support

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform assessments and document findings
• Use and manage equipment and devices such as gait belts, walkers, lifts, collars, supplemental oxygen, prosthetics, and wheelchairs
• Develop and implement home exercise programs
• Educate patients and families on medications, safety, abuse signs and symptoms (physical, sexual, psychological), and injury prevention
• Manage billing documentation
• Self-schedule visits and hours based on office needs
• Complete 6-8 home skilled visits per day (minimum 6 points per day, may increase)
• Work 1-2 weekends per contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in Florida
• Experience in a Home Health setting

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including education verification and state/federal screenings
• Physical exam within 6 months of start date
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start date (or chest X-ray if prior positive PPD)
• Annual TB questionnaire completion
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
• Drug screening (standard 9 panel) within 30 days of start
• Respirator medical clearance if applicable
• Completion of required competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start
• Professional photo for badge prior to start
• Personal or auto insurance coverage current throughout assignment

Work Environment

• Home health skilled visits with a variety of patient diagnoses
• Use of laptop, portable printers, and internet access devices provided
• Documentation through electronic systems
• Self-scheduling flexibility based on office needs

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Candidates must be able to manage their own schedule and travel to patient homes.
• Compliance with all health and safety policies including vaccination and masking is mandatory.
