Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Shift: 12-hour nights (6:15 PM - 6:45 AM)
  • Hours: 36 hours per week accepted
  • Schedule: Every other weekend required, no on-call
  • Accepts first-time travelers
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Will accept candidates with New Hampshire license pending

Unit & Patient Population

  • Acute care community hospital setting (approx. 300 beds)
  • Departments: ER, adult med/surg, adult critical care
  • Respiratory therapy driven protocols
  • Patient age group: Infants through geriatrics required; neonates preferred
  • Pediatric ER and pediatrics only if competency demonstrated
  • Not used in level 3 NICU

Responsibilities

  • Nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy (CPT)
  • High flow oxygen therapy, non-invasive ventilation (NIV)
  • Cough assist, IPV therapy
  • Assist with intubations and bronchoscopies
  • Mechanical ventilation management
  • In-house transport of mechanically ventilated patients
  • Continuous albuterol administration

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year respiratory care experience (higher value confirmed)
  • Experience in trauma, community hospital, ER, adult ICU settings required
  • Preferred experience: Level I trauma center, teaching hospital, PICU, acute pediatric care
  • Respiratory care skills required: airway management, medication administration, ventilator management, ABGs, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, nebulizer, BiPAP, CPAP
  • Bronchoscope experience preferred

Equipment Experience (Preferred)

  • Puritan Bennett ventilators
  • Draeger ventilators
  • Servo I ventilators
  • LTV 1200/HT70 ventilators

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • License: New Hampshire state license (or pending)
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • CRTT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
    • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

Additional Requirements & Information

  • Prior employment with the associated health system disqualifies candidates regardless of separation time
  • Two current professional references required (within last 3 years), including one from a supervisor or charge RN
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including social security verification, criminal searches, and other standard checks
  • Drug screening (10-panel) required within 14 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Annual fit mask test required (N95 or equivalent)
  • Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, TB test (2-step PPD or equivalent), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1) or approved exemption
  • Pass/fail dysrhythmia/ECG competency exam required for certain units within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required prior to start
  • Facility-specific immunization waivers and exemption forms available for religious or medical reasons
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and other competency exams required

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Trauma and critical care environment
  • No call required
  • Every other weekend coverage
  • Must be able to work night shifts

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in New Hampshire (or pending)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent respiratory therapist experience within the last year
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • Respiratory therapist experience in acute care settings preferred
