Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Position floats between units as needed.
- Weekend shifts required at least every other weekend.
- No on-call required.
- Expected nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4.
- Must have a personal vehicle for assignment.
- Floating to other units and facilities within the region is common based on skill set.
- Facilities covered include multiple locations within reasonable distance.
- Floating to certain locations may include additional incentives and accommodations.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Emergency Room (ER)
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year ER nursing experience recommended.
- Prior travel experience: Not required.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Short-term acute care facility setting.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Any color allowed.
- Parking: No fee.
- Floating between units and facilities may be required to meet staffing needs.
- Weekend work required at least every other weekend.
- No block schedules or on-call required.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility and system-required training modules annually (including specialty-specific and regulatory compliance modules).
- Must complete competency exams and skills checklists as applicable.
- Background checks and verifications required per state and facility policies.
- References: Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required.
Notes
- Floating policy acknowledgment required.
- Physical and health document requirements must be current and compliant prior to start.
- Respirator fit testing required for travel assignments (updated annually).
- Candidates should be prepared for possible floating to multiple locations within the region.
